Today in class the children copied their new spelling words. There are specialized lists for a total of four children in both the AM and PM classes -- please look in their assignment notebooks as they are not listed on here. There were a few children whose lists I wrote down for them due to time limitation or writing legibility. It would help if you could help them with their penmanship at home, too, by writing down the words at least once (this will also help with memorization).

The children were given out worksheets on reading comprehension and answered questions. As a challenge, I told them to also circle the pronouns in the paragraphs given. All of them still needed help, so the hint I gave them was to look for words that are for "humans" (such as you, him, her) and things (it, those, they, etc). They do still need practice, so we will be doing more exercises this week.

A few children were given a worksheet working on main idea. The very same children also worked on their workbook from when they were in Ms. Florence's/Ms. Monet's class.

As a treat, and because most of the children were still on "cloud 9" about the Seahawks game, I told them that if they were done with all of their assignments on the board, then they can write in their journals about the game (just to get it out of their system). :) They had fun with it and most will still continue with it tomorrow. A couple chose not to write about the game, but rather what they did on the weekend, which was also an excellent choice.

This morning we went on a little parade-walk with our Chinese New Year dragon and showed off the lanterns the children made. It was short and sweet :)
